Real Estate Investment Fund Controller

Job Summary
:

The Real Estate Fund Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a real estate investment fund, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with all accounting and tax regulations, and managing the fund's accounting functions. This individual will work closely with senior management, investors, and external auditors to ensure the smooth operation of the fund and support its strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
:

• Fund Accounting & Oversight
  : Lead the accounting team in the preparation of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Oversee the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and investor reports.
• Financial Reporting
  : Ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting to senior management, investors, and regulatory authorities. Review financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Fund Operations Management
  : Manage the overall financial operations of the fund, including investor contributions, distributions, capital calls, and the coordination of cash flow activities.
• Tax Compliance
  : Ensure the fund's tax compliance, including preparation and review of K-1 forms, partnership allocations, and tax filings. Oversee the relationship with external tax advisors to ensure accurate reporting of fund transactions.
• Audit Coordination
  : Lead the coordination of the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure that audits are completed on time and to the highest standard. Prepare audit schedules and related supporting documentation.
• Investor Relations
  : Manage relationships with investors, providing detailed financial reports and addressing any investor inquiries related to the fund's financial performance.
• Regulatory Compliance
  : Ensure that the fund complies with all regulatory requirements, including SEC regulations, and ensure proper internal controls are in place.
• Team Leadership
  : Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accountants and fund administrators, ensuring that the team is aligned with best practices and efficient in their daily operations.
• Operational Improvements
  : Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of fund accounting operations.
• Portfolio Valuation
  : Oversee property and portfolio valuations, ensuring that assets are accurately valued in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications
:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA required).
• 7+ years of experience in fund accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within real estate.
• Expertise in real estate fund accounting, including partnership accounting, tax regulations, and real estate valuation.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and the real estate investment industry.
• Proven experience with accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to senior management, investors, and external auditors.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing and managing high-performing teams.
