Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of construction projects. They supervise the Project Management Team for assigned projects, which includes roles such as Assistant Project Managers, Project Administrators, Project Engineers, Project Coordinators, and Accounting Specialists. They assign and delegate tasks, follow up to ensure completion, and may manage other team members within their division or region. They are forward thinkers who can visualize project success, communicate that vision to their team, and inspire them to execute it. They partner with the project Superintendent in the field and act as the primary point of contact with clients and trade partners. They manage project finances, identify and manage risks, and maintain the project schedule. They report regularly to Petra Leadership and are active trainers and mentors. They can manage multiple projects concurrently, a client program, or a single major project valued between 40million and 80 million with the help of subordinate Project Managers or multiple Assistant Project Managers and/or Project Engineers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for project owners, navigating issues to maintain strong relationships.
- Review contracts with owners to fully understand Petra's requirements and obligations, note anomalies and concerns, and communicate recommendations to the Construction Director.
- Manage project budgets, track cost impacts, and ensure profitability.
- Oversee project functions, including document control, RFIs, and submittals.
- Communicate project standards to the Superintendent and troubleshoot issues.
- Align project objectives with owner and design partners, ensuring team understanding.
- Facilitate OAC meetings with owners, design teams, and project partners.
- Manage owner expectations regarding schedule, budget, and quality.
- Facilitate coordination meetings, assign tasks, and ensure accountability.
- Manage other Project Managers when overseeing a client program.
- Organize and coordinate team efforts for successful project administration.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and touchpoints for team members.
- Provide operational oversight, coaching, performance management, and career development. Lead and inspire Project Managers and Engineers to maximize their contributions.
- Promote team success, recognize achievements, and celebrate accomplishments.
Champion safety and ensure compliance with project safety.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum eight (8) years' experience in a Project Manager capacity with a general contractor or in a similar construction industry.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Must have experience managing subordinate team members.
- Command of generally accepted construction processes such as requests for information, submittals, change order management, and project execution.
- Expert understanding of contracts with clients, subcontracts with trade partners and vendors, and be able to efficiently navigate them to determine Petra requirements and obligations.
- Understanding of construction estimating and/or project bidding is required.
- Familiarity and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs such as Office, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint is preferred.
- Moderate to intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, P6, or other scheduling software is required.
- Experience with Procore is preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour certification is preferred.

Working Environment:
- This position requires long periods of sitting while working on the computer.
- Works indoors in an office setting with moderate noise levels and near others, frequent interactions with others.
- When on a job site, this position may be exposed to conditions that include weather such as heat and/or humidity and cold, fumes or airborne particles, exposure to dust, and moving mechanical parts.
- Requires routine travel to meet with customers, potential clients, subcontractors, trade partners and vendors.
- Walking or climbing stairs.
