THE OPPORTUNITY
The VP, Data Engineering and Delivery Manager role is a hands-on leader position responsible for overseeing the development and validation of enterprise data solutions across Finance, Credit, Risk, and Operations. This position manages both data engineering and quality assurance teams, ensuring that business requirements are translated into scalable, high-quality, production-ready data pipelines and models. This position plays a critical role in driving delivery velocity, maintaining quality standards, and coordinating the structured handoff of engineered solutions to the Data Quality & Operations team for ongoing support and issue resolution. This role is ideal for an execution-driven professional who excels in building, leading teams, and ensuring delivery readiness in a fast-paced environment. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.
How You'll Make a Difference
Engineering & Execution
- Lead development of data pipelines and models across raw, conformed, curated layers.
- Convert business and product requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
- Ensure reusability, standardization, and adherence to architectural guardrails and data governance principles.
- Maintain delivery velocity via structured sprint planning and agile execution.
Quality Assurance & Validation
Manage a QA function that validates all engineering outputs before production deployment, including:
Functional test cases.
- Source-to-target validation and reconciliations.
Conformance to data contracts and performance expectations.
Coordinate with Data Governance, Finance, and Compliance teams to validate SOX- and audit-sensitive data elements.
Delivery Readiness & Handoff
- Own delivery checklists and sign-off gates prior to go-live.
- Collaborate with the Data Quality & Operations team for smooth transitions into production.
- Ensure all documentation, test evidence, and handoff materials are complete and traceable.
- Partner closely with QA, DataOps, and platform teams for cutover and early life support.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a blended team of data engineers and QA analysts.
- Drive a delivery culture focused on trust, accountability, and transparency.
- Support talent planning, onboarding, and performance management.
Key Partnerships
- Data Product Team – Intake of prioritized requirements and epics.
- DataOps & Quality Team – Handoff of validated solutions for ongoing stewardship and monitoring.
- Architecture & Platform Teams – Alignment with design, infrastructure, and performance expectations.
- Finance, Credit, Risk SMEs – Business alignment and UAT readiness.
- External SIs (e.g., Slalom) – Oversight of offshore/contractor delivery teams.
- Involved with interviewing and hiring decisions.
- Prepare and deliver employee performance evaluations, goal planning, and counselings.
- Manage, support, coach and train staff.

Required
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 8+ years in data engineering and/or analytics engineering, with 3+ years leading delivery teams
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong command of modern data stack tools and workflows: Snowflake, dbt, Azure Data Factory, Python, SQL, Git.
- QA or testing tools (e.g., Great Expectations, SQL-based test automation, reconciliation frameworks).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise data delivery cycles: development, validation, release.
- Experience managing sprint delivery, backlog planning, and technical team execution.
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration and documentation skills.
Preferred
- Familiarity with SOX, internal audit, FRB AIR, or other regulatory controls a plus.
- Experience in banking, financial services, or highly regulated environments.
- Ability to manage hybrid onshore/offshore teams and external delivery partners.
- Familiarity with data governance tooling and practices (e.g., MS Purview, KDEs, lineage).
- Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps pipelines for data assets.

SALARY RANGE
The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
