As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank's Merchant Services team, you will play a crucial role as part of an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products with a focus on security, stability, and scalability.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Leading one or more scrum teams with ownership and accountability
  • Running Production operations independently and a self sustainable model
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages - Java / Spring Boot / Microservices / RestAPIs/ Python
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Strong Programming Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS (EC2, EKS, RDS, DDB, S3, SQS, KDS, MSK, Lambdas, Glue)
  • Hands on experience in Software Development tools and CI/CD tools - Jenkins, Spinnaker, IntelliJ, Bitbucket
  • Hands on experience in Infrastructure As Code (IAC) - Teraform
  • Experienced in SRE and Observability tools - Splunk, Dynatrace and Datadog
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • EAC (Environment As a Code)
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies - React.JS preferred
  • 10+ years hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
