Job Description:

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION EXPECTED TO LAST UNTIL: 11/7/2026

Responsibilities include: Compiles/analyzes information from the Accounts Receivable system to assist in contacting past due customers, as well as to provide management with status reports. Will also maintain an overall aging of Accounts Receivable. Provides Management with status reports on Accounts Receivable and suggest solutions to problems. Will pre-audit accounts payable, accounts receivable entries, and journal entry batches. Assists with daily deposits, coding and entering accounts payable and accounts receivable entries, as needed. Determines accounting coding according to the Agency's chart of accounts and business unit structure. Submits address book number requests with proper documentation as needed for customers and vendors. Prepares journal entries to record accounting adjustments. Prepares EXCEL spreadsheets to compile and present financial information and data. Runs reports and account inquiries for research purposes from the State's Accounting System. Troubleshoots, researches, and resolves vender and customer inquiries related to transaction issues. Provides solutions to problems as identified. Assists with compiling audit documentation as needed. Other duties as necessary.

Requirements/ Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework in accounting, finance, business administration or related field or vocational school OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.

Preferred Qualifications: A strong, working knowledge and experience in EXCEL is required. Enterprise-One experience is preferred.

Other: Regular and reliable attendance is expected. Must possess a valid driver's license and complete approved defensive driving class necessary for the use of state vehicles. If selected for this position, you must meet the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services employment eligibility requirements by completing an EEV (I-9) Form. The agency does not sponsor H1-B Visa's. Selection process will include an interview.

Knowledge of:

  • The principles and practices of accounting theory and double entry accounting concepts and procedures
  • Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Accounting systems
  • The methods of filing and maintaining accounting records
  • Word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs
  • Database management

Skill in:

  • Listening to and understanding information received
  • Using mathematical methods or formulas to compare and analyze data
  • Developing and applying equations and/or formulas
  • Compiling data from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive document or report

Ability to:

  • Learn and apply the principles and concepts of specific agency programs, regulations and procedures of an accounting system
  • Learn and apply GAAP practices and standards
  • Communicate with agency staff and the public to provide and elicit information
  • Classify accounting transactions, maintain, and reconcile accounts, close accounts and prepare reports and statements
  • Extract data from established accounts and prepare accounting reports and financial statements
  • Review accounting documents for completeness and conformance with specific requirements and to take the appropriate corrective action when necessary
  • Design reports and financial statements
  • Compute and compile financial data involving the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions
  • Operate office equipment such as personal computers, scanners, photocopiers and desk calculators
