Job Description
As a Process Quality Engineer, you will be expected to drive the strategic direction of front-end wafer quality across the local site and Micron's world-wide organization. You will support the development, alignment, and execution of long-range strategies which enable Micron teams to meet technology requirements. You will be responsible for actively monitoring, controlling, and reducing air and surface contamination of the wafer and fab environment to protect and drive product quality improvements. Additionally, Process Quality works closely with process areas and process integration to solve complex contamination issues impacting line quality and prevent future occurrence. This role will also involve working closely with process development and engineers to assess and control risks from integrating new exotic materials into the wafer processing environment. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Safety & Quality:
- Follows-up on safety and quality events and works towards on-time containment, corrective, and preventative actions with G8D (Global Eight Disciplines) teams and other stakeholders
- Completes all required safety training and ensures all work is conducted in accordance with safety policies
- Performs 6S audits and submit good catches to prevent potential safety and quality issues
- Monitor area KPIs (Key Performance Indices) and identifies areas of improvement and drives the team towards continuous improvements
Communication & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with peers locally and worldwide to establish or drive towards alignment of BKMs (Best Known Methods) or SOPs that drive efficiency and reduce cost while maintaining or improving quality of the fab
- Drive the understanding of new contamination technology and techniques to ensure that our detection capabilities meet the technical roadmaps and those using the data get the most value from it
- Systematically reviews and tests contamination hazards to determine risk mitigation for new materials, non-process chemicals and exotic materials that enter the cleanroom, as well as for activities and behaviors that occur in the cleanroom
- Keep appraised of new analyzers and industry research
- Leads the development of engineering solutions and strategies for detecting, reducing, eliminating, and controlling contamination hazards at point of control/entry/use/process
- Partner with engineering teams and PI to understand their processes, tools, and challenges to prioritize, define, and complete studies of the impact of AMCs in the wafer environment on yield, and implement appropriate AMC countermeasures
- Provides effective and timely guidance to resolve contamination issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution
- Continues to improve abilities via internal and external education opportunities, and a desire to grow skills in Data Science
- Understand the strengths and weaknesses of different analytical instruments and speak to their cross sensitivities, precision, accuracy, resolution, limits of detection, linearity, etc.
- Initiates, leads, and drives projects that define improvements in quality, efficiency, and cost reduction
- Coordinates and leads meetings and tracks follow-up actions
- Support AMC data collection on next generation processes and technologies within Fab 4 for technology transfers to production fabs
- Designing and optimizing the layout of contamination real-time monitoring equipment to enhance coverage and minimize excursion risk
- Skills in data extraction, analysis, reporting and visualization
- Self-motivated, diligent, and able to work with minimal direction
- Build and maintain effective relationships
- Ability to communicate complex analysis in a succinct and actionable manner
- Ability to plan, drive, and complete projects effectively white great attention to detail

- Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills with ability to solve complex problems and address root causes
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
- 2+ years in semiconductor industry
