Vice President of Accounting

Position Overview

The Vice President of Accounting is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the company's accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the implementation of effective accounting policies and controls. This role partners with the CFO and executive leadership to support strategic decision-making through timely, reliable, and insightful financial information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS standards.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive team to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to guide strategic and operational decisions.
  • Mentor, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting team, promoting professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate accounting systems, processes, and technologies, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • 20+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in corporate accounting.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to influence and develop staff.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
