We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to join our Construction Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join a dynamic team and make a lasting impact on our organization.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and make decisions related to project activities in compliance with approved contract documents, scheduling, logistics, quality control, field operations, Work In Place (WIP), subcontractors and Polk Self-Perform Operations (SPO) staffing levels, provide technical and jobsite planning guidance.
- Manage and align General Requirements and General Conditions (GR/GC) within project budget.
- Manage project mock-ups and oversee associated testing, review, and approval as applicable.
- Oversee work among assigned trades to promote coordinated project operations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors' Trade staff.
- Resolve local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, equipment schedule, and other related matters.
- Develop and manage jobsite safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with Polk standards and safety codes and regulations.
- Create and communicate schedules and determine sequencing of work to project stakeholders and staff.
- Identify schedule risks and develop, communicate, and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
- Identify, investigate, manage, and resolve field issues and communicate with relevant project stakeholders, escalate to project leadership as needed.
- Manage and verify billing process for Work In Place (WIP) and oversee monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
- Manage work performed to ensure installation in compliance and conformity to approved contract documents.
- Apply basic continuous improvement concepts and practices to work efficiently, enhance programs, coordinate and reduce waste.
- May oversee Field Engineers and Interns, and participate in hiring process, onboard and deliver timely performance feedback for direct reports, execute/contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with development needs.
- Other duties, actions, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program with minimum of 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices knowledge
- Construction experience that bridges both field and engineering responsibilities, required
- Project management of competing demands, and meet established deadlines
- Well-rounded knowledge of construction processes across all trades, means and methods, and materials their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances
- Construction Quality Management/Corps of Engineers Certification (USACE), highly recommended
- Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
- Excellent business acumen and critical thinking skills to assess and solve problems and conflicts
- Excellent interpersonal communication, professional presentation skills, and persuasion skills to confidently engage and influence others
- Highly developed self-awareness and receptive to feedback for continuous growth
- Self-starter, capable of managing multiple complex issues and tasks successfully to completion
- Build engaging partnerships with team and organizational stakeholders through trust, teamwork, and direct communication
- Adapt to manage through ambiguity and changing environments and demands
- Advanced computer skills, proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents
- Proven leadership qualities and skills with ability manage, mentor, and teach staff
- Travel may be required
