Milwaukee Valve Company is looking for an Automation Engineer to join our Prairie Du Sac, WI team in Department 761. This is a salaried-exempt position.

Summary - Under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing Services, the Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities to which competency will be measured include the following:
• Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes, including but not limited to, robotics, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify automation solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
• Ensure that automation systems comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental requirements.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis to determine the viability of automation projects.
• Develop and maintain documentation for automation systems, including user manuals, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide training and support to manufacturing personnel on the use of automation systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation system issues and provide technical support as needed for both new and existing equipment.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and advancements, including additive manufacturing, to ensure automation systems are current and relevant.
• Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to leverage their expertise and resources as needed.

Education and Experience – Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year College in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, combined with 5+ years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of visitors or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills – Microsoft Office, CAD. Ability to understand and write programs in several equipment languages; including but not limited to: PLC, EIA/ISO G-Code, Fanuc Karel (Pascal), ABB Rapid. Ability to understand and write programs in computer languages to integrate and automate systems.
