Position Purpose

SCH Academy is looking for a passionate, experienced individual to provide leadership, organization, and supervision to effectively plan, implement, and oversee the School's athletic programs. The Athletic Director is responsible for the administration of all athletic programs and serves as a role model for the athletic staff. Essential Functions

Plans, organizes, and oversees a comprehensive sports program at the School.Ensures the athletic program objectives mirror the school's missions, values, and culture.Represents the School's athletic programs, including attending league meetings.Ensures compliance with conference rules and regulations.Oversees the establishment of the athletic program policies, procedures, and curriculum.Reviews and maintains the Coaches Handbook and provides orientation to the athletic staff regarding policies and procedures governing the athletic programs.Manages the department finances and budget, including purchasing all equipment and uniforms.Hires and supervises the coaching staff and ensures they are performing at their highest level of professionalism.Supervises the Athletic Department staff, including Assistants, Trainers, and coaching staff. This includes recruiting and selecting, evaluating, and encouraging professional development.Provides admissions with prospective student information and communicates with the Admissions team on a regular basis.Supervises and coordinates, or delegates as appropriate, the scheduling of all athletic events, arranging for transportation to and from events, and arranging for officials for all events.Oversees the safe usage and condition of all equipment, facilities, and fields. This includes the management of games, classes, and day-to-day logistics. Also responsible for the replacement and reconditioning of all of the above.Serves the entire school community through communication and promotion of the programs.Communicates regularly with the Division Heads regarding athletes and the athletics program.Works closely with the Admissions office and the coaching staff to identify prospective students and to ensure these students are familiar with SCH as well as are put in touch with the appropriate individuals at the School.Serves as a primary contact for all parents' questions regarding athletics.Represents the department among all segments of the school community.Works with the communication office in the preparation of sports publicity and information materials that enhance participation and accurately inform participants, spectators, and the public.Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Athletic Administration (preferred); Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Health, Fitness, or Education.Five to seven years of experience as an Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director.Experience working with or teaching students, particularly in an independent school.A passion for athletics and the positive effects sports can have on students.Extensive coaching experience.Experience managing sports programs for Middle and Upper School students, including creating a budget and maintaining finances for an independent school's Athletics Department.Administrative and supervisory experience, including experience scheduling and organizing multiple teams and coaches.Exemplary organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members with a continuous focus on healthy relationship building.Demonstrated deep understanding of cultural competency skills and enthusiasm for issues of diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging.
