About the Role

Esselstrom Consulting LLC is seeking a mid-level UI/UX Designer to support the early-stage design of a production planning and process management tool. This system will help visualize complex build sequences, track resource allocation, and support decision-making across manufacturing operations in the maritime space.

The designer will create wireframes and interactive prototypes that demonstrate workflow navigation, scheduling concepts, and process visibility. This role is ideal for someone comfortable designing systems that translate operational complexity into intuitive, data-driven interfaces for technical users.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design wireframes and clickable prototypes illustrating workflow, scheduling, and process tracking features.
  • Define user navigation for visualizing task dependencies, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project leads to interpret system requirements into structured, logical layouts.
  • Iterate designs based on feedback, ensuring usability and clarity for operational and planning users.
  • Develop prototypes that convey the intended user experience for developer handoff and stakeholder review.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in UI/UX design for data-heavy, workflow-based, or scheduling applications.
  • Proficiency in a modern design platform (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or equivalent).
  • Ability to work independently and iterate with limited documentation or pre-existing design systems.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with engineering teams on early-concept projects.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be U.S.-based and legally authorized to work as a 1099 contractor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing resource planning, scheduling, or process-tracking tools.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, maritime, or industrial environments.
  • Understanding of task dependency visualization and data-driven user interfaces.
  • Ability to conceptualize user flows that highlight system performance, risk, or resource constraints (a plus).
