Overview
This position will lead a crew, and at times, multiple crews. You will perform and inspect activities related to the construction and installation of gas mains and meters which will additionally involve oversight and performance of the following task: Pipe fitting, making taps, installation services, performing repairs, poly fusion, stoppling of mains, large meter loop piping, conducting training and other related work as required. As the Crew Leader you will also ensure materials and equipment are utilized in a responsible manner, ensure job safety, and that City policies and procedures are followed. Lastly, you will ensure work is properly documented and in compliance with Texas Railroad Commission (TRRC) rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and Install gas mains
  • Perform, oversee and inspect Pipe fitting, making taps, installation of Gas services, making repairs, poly fusion, offsets, Stoppling of mains, and large meter loops piping
  • Conduct onsite training
  • Ensure materials and equipment are utilized in a responsible manner
  • Ensure job safety, and that City policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Ensure work is properly documented and in compliance with Texas Railroad Commission rules and regulations
  • Complete Maximo work-orders and required paperwork
  • Utilize any programs that may track and report job progress
  • Coordinate with supervisors on project planning and reporting
  • Perform inspections and training for other crews and assists when necessary for other un-assigned projects
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as assigned

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

  • Non-Exempt – Full-Time
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
  • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Five (5) Years of related Job Experience

Licenses and Certifications
Required

  • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Required Within Six (6) Months Of Hire

  • Energy World Net Training Evaluator Certification

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
