The Safety Manager is responsible for providing technical expertise and/or oversight of company efforts related to achieving safety standards, including traffic control along public right-of-ways.

Support includes coaching, teaching, training, and enforcement of all applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations. Additionally, this position will support all accident, incident, and injury management, investigation, and corrective action activities, including applicable record-keeping and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive safety culture where employees are actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment
  • Serve as subject matter expert on strategies, programs, and procedures for ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Evaluate the workplace to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks
  • Regular job site and yard inspections to assess safety conditions and identify areas for improvement
  • Review account managers' weekly safety inspection reports, first notice of loss reports, injury investigations, and modified work programs.
  • Assure that all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available, and workers have been trained in the use of PPE, and it is being used as required
  • Provide oversight of company efforts related to achieving a safety and health culture.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and other relevant data.
  • Conduct, coordinate, and review inspections of yards and job sites to identify potential OSHA compliance issues.
  • Develop corrective action plans that address injury prevention based on root cause analysis of injury.
  • Hold account management accountable for injury frequency.
  • Train on-site personnel regarding safety policies and procedures.
  • Implement safety & health procedures and programs consistent with OSHA regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
  • Effectively communicate any significant problems or issues to senior management.
  • Maintain OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
  • Maintain OSHA Days Away Restricted and Transfer Cases (DART)
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log
  • Investigate workplace accidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Maintain required daily, weekly, and monthly record-keeping and reporting.
  • Implement and manage safety training of safe work practices and power equipment operation during onboarding of new employees

Job Requirement: Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Preferably, the ideal candidate will have one or more of the following

  • Completion of OSHA 30 General and construction.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Traffic safety and control certification.
  • Tree Trimming safety certification (CTSP).
  • Ability to recognize compliance and risk issues and situations.
  • Knowledge of safety and health management systems and practices.
  • Prior experience in recommending, developing, and implementing compliance. strategies and plans.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly convey a message verbally and in writing in a variety of communication settings/styles.

Pay: $68,640.00 per year
