Legal Assistant- Defense Litigation

Busy insurance defense and medical malpractice litigation firm seeks an experienced legal assistant to assist with cases involving medical malpractice, transportation, and general business litigation. This position will require extensive work with medical records and may include the production of summaries and chronologies. The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of experience in litigation, and an ability to perform the following tasks:

  • Use Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Use other programs, such as Adobe and ShareFile.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, witnesses, other counsel, and experts in person, by email, and on the phone.
  • Obtain medical, radiology, employment, and billing records.
  • Coordinate and schedule mediations, hearings, depositions, client meetings, conference calls, and trial.
  • Prepare notebooks for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial.
  • Assist in locating experts.
  • Prepare extensive medical summaries and chronologies.
  • Review and organize documents; create and maintain privilege logs; Bates label, redact, and index documents.
  • Assemble and collate exhibits and legal documents to assist with the preparation of motions.
  • Assist with trial preparation and provide trial support.
  • Maintain monthly/yearly billable hours requirements.
  • Assist multiple attorneys with various tasks.
