Job Description Summary
As a Lead Coatings Process Engineer, you will support the industrialization, quality, producibility, and technological advancement of GE's Turbine Airfoil Coatings. This position is based out of Cincinnati, OH, with expected travel to different US-based suppliers 10-20% of the time. In this role, you will collaborate with GE Design, Materials, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and Supplier teams to impact short-term and long-term business goals. This position is ideal for early-career engineers looking to grow their leadership skills and technical expertise in coatings and manufacturing.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Support industrialization and production projects focused on turbine airfoil coatings technology for current and future engine designs, including coating process development and inspection technology.
- Develop expertise in turbine airfoil coating special processes through training and hands-on learning, including coating requirements, materials, processes, and equipment.
- Collaborate with suppliers to address production coating issues using problem-solving methods to experiment, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions.
- Work with cross-functional teams (Quality, Delivery, and Sourcing) to track Supplier KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement projects for coating quality, delivery, and cost.
- Assist in creating and maintaining action plans for cross-functional teams to achieve desired outcomes on time. Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments to leadership and coordinate tasks necessary to overcome issues.
- Demonstrate curiosity, self-motivation, and discipline while building strong professional relationships.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years Engineering, Quality, Design, or Manufacturing experience + minimum of 3 years Engineering, Quality, Design, or Manufacturing experience
Desired Characteristics
- Basic knowledge of Aerospace coatings, such as EB-PVD, diffusion, vacuum, or thermal processing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.

- Hands-on experience in shop floor, design, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment and/or tooling design and build.
