The Communications Manager (CM) is responsible for supporting the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast's mission and community impact priorities by developing and implementing communication plans and strategies including public relations, media relations, online giving, digital communications, key messaging, storytelling and brand experience.

Reporting to the Director of Community Outreach, the CM will set and guide the strategy for all communications, website, advertising, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast's mission. The Communications Manager will ensure that the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast is viewed as the primary source, disseminator and conduit of information within this diverse network and constituent base.

Working with the Director of Community Outreach on strategic planning for HSTC's philanthropic and communication initiatives, the CM will also take part in the Development Team's efforts at HSTC. Partnering with other departments to maximize relationships in support of HSTC programs and services, the CM will be a community ambassador for HSTC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual, cohesive communications strategy across the network's discreet audiences in collaboration with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast's team and constituents, deciding who, where and when to disseminate.

· Establish measurable goals on an annual basis.

· Prepare monthly board report and annual impact report

· Assist with the creation and management of the Communications & Advertising budget.

· Implement HSTC brand guidelines across all collateral.

· Manage development, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral, including, but not limited to, social media, website, e-blasts, newsletters, brochures, flyers, and print content, as well as digital advertisements.

· Manage audiences across social media platforms and post engaging, creative content regularly. Monitor channels to report, flag and intercept controversial commentary.

· Deliver clear, confident, and engaging presentations in person and on camera, including public speaking, live television, video recordings, webinars, and other multimedia formats.

· Develop and maintain internal and external communications concentrating on maintaining uniform brand mission expression in all communication, public relations and marketing efforts.

· Ensure all promotional and marketing opportunities support building a positive HSTC identity while enhancing the public profile & perception of the organization.

· Ensure quality control of all information released to the public.

· Coordinate webpage maintenance: (1) ensure that new and consistent information is posted regularly; (2) use a consistent language to maintain a singular voice on behalf of the organization; (3) regularly monitor the ease of navigation and user experience; and (4) examine and analyze site traffic in tandem with external partners to monitor success of fundraising and marketing strategic efforts.

· Work with PR Consultant on press releases and other public relations activities.

· Attend monthly All Staff meetings.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

· Participate in Senior Management Team activities.

· Maintain the highest level of customer service excellence and encourage the same throughout the organization with staff and volunteers.

· Attend off-premise and after-hour meeting and events, including HSTC signature events, community affairs, and professional associations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

· Confident in public speaking.

· Advanced knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite

· Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

· Must have a valid Florida Driver's License and clean driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be able to stoop, bend, and lift overhead occasionally, and carry items from place to place.

· Standing, sitting, and computer usage for extended periods of time.

· Must be able to control any allergic reactions to animals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

· B.A. or B.S. Degree

· Five-plus years' experience in a nonprofit communications or marketing environment

· Proficiency with social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.

· Design experience using creative programs like Photoshop, Canva, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to high noise levels, odors, animal bites and scratches, diseases transferable between animals and humans, cleaning agents, insect/parasite controlling chemicals, slippery floors, dust, animal dander and excreta, injured animals, euthanasia, and staff and customer emotional extremes. Works in both indoor and outdoor exposures.
