Medical Billing and Authorization Specialist

Group Medical Practice seeking experienced Medical Billing/Coding professional to work On-Site as part of our medical billing team. Attention to detail and compassion for others is a must due to the nature of our specialty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Each team member is assigned an Alpha split and will work the following items for that assignment:

Process and Obtain Chemotherapy Infusion Authorizations for office

Obtain Tricare and VA Authorizations for office

Insurance A/R: Follow up on unpaid claims, resolve discrepancies, and submit claim appeals.

Patient A/R for follow up, pay-plans, collections and refunds

Investigate and respond to patient in-person or phone inquiries in a timely and professional manner

Obtain Medicaid Travel approvals

Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness in documentation

Backup to other team members when they are out of office

Other duties as assigned by Business Office Manager

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

Minimum 3 years of Medical Billing and/or Coding Experience

Certification such as: CPC, CPC-A, CPB preferred but not required

Workable knowledge of CPT, ICD10, medical terminology and anatomy

Workable knowledge and understanding of payer EOB's

Workable knowledge and understanding of CMS, Medicare, Medicaid and other payer guidelines

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to interact with patients, patient representative, insurance companies and others in a clear, positive and professional manner is a must

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Abode, E-mail, Internet and Insurance Payer portals

Ability to work on-site 5 days a week during office business hours

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
