Minimum Qualifications (Required)
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an appropriate endorsement in Elementary Education (K–5 all subjects) or a related STEM field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, STEM Education, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver inquiry-based, hands-on learning experiences aligned with Michigan Science Standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Knowledge of engineering design processes, problem-based learning (PBL), and scientific inquiry.
  • Experience integrating technology and digital tools (coding, robotics, makerspace equipment, design software) into classroom instruction.
  • Strong classroom management skills that promote collaboration, creativity, and student ownership of learning.
  • Commitment to equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive practices in STEM learning environments.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
  • Master's degree in STEM Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field.
  • Experience teaching or coaching in STEM or STEAM integration across multiple grade levels (K–5).
  • Proficiency with coding platforms and 3D design tools (Tinkercad, CAD software).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate STEM across the curriculum (math, literacy, social studies).
  • Experience organizing schoolwide or community STEM events (family nights, robotics clubs, innovation fairs).
  • Familiarity with Capturing Kids' Hearts or other relationship-based classroom models.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a personalized approach to education, including advancing supportive strategies such as flipped classrooms, student-led assignments and assessments, portfolio development, student voice and choice, etc.
  • Must be a collaborative team member with a strong work ethic.
  • Prepare course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  • Establish and enforce classroom management procedures consistent with building and district protocol.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health and report to parents as needed and required.
  • Prepare materials and classroom for class activities.
  • Utilize a multi-tiered system of support, as well as adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate.
  • Create standard operating procedures that promote student agency and foster a collaborative learning environment over multiple grade levels (K-5).
  • Use a variety of media and methods in order to motivate students and best utilize available time for instruction.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects and communicate those objectives to the students.
  • Assign and grade class work and homework, adhering to building and district protocols.
  • Comfortable tutoring small groups of students in math and reading.
  • Prepare, administer and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
  • Collaborate with other professional staff to enhance instruction and adapt and modify curriculum in order to meet individual student needs.
  • Participate in the development and revision of goals and performance objectives for students, course content and learning activities, evaluates procedures and instructional materials.
  • Keep attendance and academic records as required by the district.
  • Support the tenants of Capturing Kids Hearts
  • Maximize student engagement through adherence to the evaluation platform
  • Implement IEP and 504 plans
