Primary Purpose
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Hatchery Intern at Mountaire Farms, you will research how different incubation profiles affect hatch rates, chick quality, and broiler performance. You'll gain hands-on experience in a large-scale hatchery, collecting and analyzing data to evaluate real-world outcomes. At the end of the summer, you'll present your findings and recommendations to leadership, making a meaningful impact on future hatchery practices.
Project Highlights
- Define project objectives with hatchery leadership.
- Develop a project scope of work outlining goals and methods.
- Collect and analyze hatchery data on incubation profiles.
- Measure outcomes for hatch rate, chick quality, and broiler performance.
- Document findings in reports and presentations.
- Share results with leadership and make recommendations.
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university. (Poultry Science Major Preferred)
- Valid Driver's license
- Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
- Work in a team environment
- Self-Motivated and accepting of challenges and detail oriented
- Outgoing with a positive attitude, willingness to ask questions, learn, and engage with the management and hourly workforce
- Must be dependable and able to work early mornings
- Good organizational skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to follow protocols/ instructions
Internship Program Requirements
- Complete assigned project identified by department mentor.
- Attend weekly seminar series across different Mountaire facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- All interns must be available to travel to Delaware during the last week of the program for final presentations (August 3 to 7, 2026).
- All interns are required to complete a 10-minute presentation on their project at the conclusion of summer. Presentations will take place in Millsboro, DE at the Administrative Building during the week of August 3rd-7th.
- Anticipated weekly schedule for this internship is: 7am - 4pm, which could very for project needs.
- Housing available upon request.
