Accounting Specialist

Pay: $60,000–$65,000 per year

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Location: In Office - South Omaha

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support daily accounting and payroll-related operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring employee timekeeping accuracy, and supporting payroll readiness in coordination with our external CPA firm.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of time punch tracking, invoice processing, and follow-up with internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice review, entry, and payment tracking
  • Generate customer invoices and assist with payment reconciliation and overdue accounts
  • Perform daily audits of employee time punches and track missed or incorrect punches
  • Coordinate with supervisors and payroll partners to resolve timekeeping issues before payroll submission
  • Maintain organized financial and vendor documentation
  • Assist with basic bank and account reconciliations
  • Support job cost awareness by tracking labor and material costs
  • Review purchasing activity for accuracy and cost efficiency
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams and external partners

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support roles preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience with payroll or timekeeping systems a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow through on open items
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
