Job Overview
Join our dynamic emergency response team as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), where your vital skills and compassionate care will make a difference in critical moments. In this energetic role, you will be at the forefront of patient care, providing immediate medical assistance and transportation to those in need. Your expertise in emergency medicine, airway management, and patient assessment will ensure swift, effective responses to a variety of urgent situations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in fast-paced environments, including trauma centers and urgent care settings, where your dedication can save lives and improve outcomes.
Duties
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing high-quality pre-hospital care to patients across diverse settings.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine the severity of injuries or illnesses.
- Administer basic life support (BLS) interventions such as airway management, oxygen therapy, and medication administration within scope of practice.
- Utilize advanced skills like venipuncture, injection administration, and aseptic techniques when necessary for patient stabilization.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely while adhering to all driving regulations; handle heavy lifting and physical exertion during patient extrication and transport.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately; interpret medical terminology and physiology knowledge to inform treatment decisions.
- Conduct triage at scene or within hospital environments to prioritize patient care effectively.
- Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to infection control protocols during procedures such as wound care or invasive interventions.
- Collaborate with hospital staff, including trauma teams at Level I or Level II trauma centers, ensuring seamless patient handoff with comprehensive documentation.
- Participate in critical care transport missions, delivering patients safely between facilities while managing complex medical needs.
- Keep detailed records of all treatments administered, patient responses, and incident reports for legal compliance and quality assurance.
Experience
Candidates should possess prior EMT experience with a strong foundation in emergency medicine practices. Experience working in hospital settings or trauma centers—particularly Level I or Level II trauma centers—is highly desirable. Critical care experience enhances your ability to manage complex cases involving airway management, medication administration, and physiological monitoring under pressure. Familiarity with DME (Durable Medical Equipment), medical terminology, and procedures like venipuncture or physical examinations is essential for success in this role. Candidates must demonstrate excellent patient assessment skills, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and the ability to perform under stressful conditions. A valid EMT certification is required; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Trauma Nursing certifications are advantageous. The ideal applicant will be comfortable driving emergency vehicles in urgent situations while maintaining safety standards and demonstrating physical endurance for heavy lifting tasks associated with patient extrication. This energetic role offers a rewarding career path for motivated individuals passionate about providing critical care in fast-paced environments where every second counts
