Position Description:
RCM is looking for a motivated and skilled Manufacturing Engineer / Validation Specialist. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, efficiency, and compliance of our manufacturing processes and equipment. The specialist will be primarily responsible for the planning, execution, and documentation of Equipment and Process Validation activities, with a preferred focus on Molding and Laser equipment. The successful candidate will also provide direct engineering support to manufacturing lines, applying problem-solving methodologies to optimize yields and troubleshooting complex equipment issues.
Responsibilities:
Validation and Compliance
- Develop, execute, and document Validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new and existing equipment and processes, particularly those involving Molding and Laser technologies.
- Ensure all validation activities and documentation comply with FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 820), ISO standards, and company quality procedures.
- Manage Change Control processes related to manufacturing equipment and process changes.
- Conduct Process Capability Studies and define critical process parameters.
Manufacturing Support and Improvement
- Provide dedicated engineering support to high-volume manufacturing production lines, ensuring minimal downtime and sustained performance.
- Utilize problem-solving techniques (e.g., Six Sigma, DOE, Root Cause Analysis) to identify and implement robust solutions that improve process yield and reduce scrap/defects.
- Lead efforts for continuous process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Act as the technical expert for equipment troubleshooting, diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to quickly return assets to service.
Documentation and Training
- Generate and maintain accurate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and Engineering specifications.
- Provide training and technical guidance to manufacturing technicians and operators with new equipment and validated processes.
Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on Equipment and Process Validation.
- Demonstrated proven track record supporting manufacturing lines in a high-volume production setting.
- Experience in applying formal problem-solving techniques (e.g., DMAIC, 8D) specifically to improve process yield.
- Strong background and practical skill in troubleshooting and repair equipment.
- Preferred: Direct experience with Molding (e.g., injection, compression) and/or Laser equipment (e.g., cutting, welding, marking) validation and technical support.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Biomedical).
