Our client, a Junior's apparel manufacturing brand, is seeking a strong Technical Designer to join their team in NYC The ideal candidate has experience with Sweaters for the Juniors and Missy market.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain detailed technical packages, including flat sketches, construction details, and measurement specifications.
  • Oversee fit sessions, conduct fit analyses, and provide feedback to ensure garments meet fit standards and brand expectations.
  • Collaborate with factories to develop and refine prototypes, ensuring that designs are executed correctly and adjustments are made as needed.
  • Monitor and assess the quality of samples and production garments, addressing any issues related to construction, fit, or fabric performance.
  • Act as a liaison between the design team, licensee and factory partners to communicate technical requirements and resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of design changes, fitting adjustments, and technical specifications. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Address and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during the design and production process, proposing practical solutions to meet quality and fit standards.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Designer or in a similar role within the women's fashion industry, with a focus on Sweaters preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Apparel Engineering, or a related field a plus
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and CAD programs. Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and fabric properties.
  • Excellent attention to detail in technical specifications, fit analysis, and quality control.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve technical issues, with a proactive approach to ensuring design integrity and production quality.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000 commensurate of experience
