Pascall values versatility, technical skill, and problem-solving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role reports directly to our VP of Engineering, whose background includes product development and technology commercialization at companies such as Analog Devices (formerly Linear Technology) as well as start-ups and consulting firms.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and validate EEG acquisition hardware and supporting embedded firmware (Nordic nRF or similar SoCs).
  • Prototype, test, and debug PCB assemblies and system interfaces, ensuring performance and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain test automation, data logging, and signal analysis tools.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and algorithm teams to integrate new features.
  • Coordinate projects and maintain regular communication with internal teams, external consultants, and technical advisors. Maintain documentation and design control traceability.
  • Conduct experimental design, data analysis, and technical reporting.
  • Mentor interns and junior engineers to foster technical growth.

Desired Qualifications

  • Required:
  • 2–5 years of experience developing electrical/electronic systems and embedded firmware (C/C++).
  • Experience with Nordic nRF or similar BLE/SoC platforms.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for PCB design and layout.
  • Proficiency with bench test and measurement equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, and signal generators for hardware validation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in FDA-compliant or ISO 13485 medical device development.
  • Familiarity with Python for data analysis, test automation, or firmware validation.
  • Understanding of analog front ends, signal conditioning, or low-noise mixed-signal design.
  • Curiosity, meticulous attention to detail, and the drive to innovate in a fast-paced environment.

In your Cover Letter, answer each of the following question clearly:

  • What excites you about this position?
  • Tell us in detail about a technical project that you are most proud of.

About PASCALL SYSTEMS

Sustainably grown startup with an FDA-510(k)-cleared medical device

Founding team includes: a MIT PhD Neuroscience graduate as CEO, a joint MIT/Harvard professor, statistician, and anesthesiologist at MGH, and a former Harvard, currently Stanford professor, in Anesthesiology and Bioengineering

Both professors run their own laboratories and key opinion leaders in their field

The founding team has strong ties with both MIT and Harvard

Problem we are working on: to bring neuroscience-based personalized anesthesia monitoring to the operating room (OR). PASCALL founders also have strong ties to the anesthesia department at Massachusetts General Hospital through Drs. Brown and Purdon's work at, allowing our team to remain connected with current problems in the field. Our mission is to revolutionize anesthesia care by advancing the field into an era of neuroscience-based personalized care. Our vision is to bring personalized, innovative, and strong science-based anesthesia care to all hospitals in the world and in doing so prevent post-operative delirium and post-operative cognitive dysfunction. Since our founding, PASCALL has built significant capabilities in the development of medical devices and software. We achieved ISO13485:2016 certification for the design and development of medical devices. Our first platform device was FDA cleared in 2022.

Our team is a diverse and international group, bringing together a range of expertise and unique perspectives. Alongside advanced degrees in algorithm development, machine learning, pharmacy, and anesthesiology, we also have members with backgrounds in fields as varied as music and history.
