Senior Category Analyst

Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits is seeking a Senior Category Analyst. The Senior Category Analyst will play a pivotal role in shaping our company's success by providing strategic insights and data-driven recommendations. Working closely with their sales counterparts to deliver the annual account plan by developing powerful selling stories and tools that drive increased DFWS share and category performance. The position will also leverage data tools and insights to develop syndicated national selling stories for our award-winning brands and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Category Management: Optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies for national and chain customers. Integrates data from multiple resources (syndicated data, panel, depletions, COGNOS, primary & secondary research) to develop actionable insights and recommendations.
• Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilize data analysis techniques to extract actionable insights. Make informed recommendations for product selection and placement. Create fact-based selling stories for presentations to buyers.
• Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular reports on category performance, market trends and KPIs. Present findings to key stakeholders, including retailers and internal senior management. Collaborate with marketing and sales team aligning on selling content, analysis for retail customers and strategies.
• Self-starter who takes full ownership of projects from inception to completion, demonstrating agility in adapting to changing priorities and delivering results effectively.
• Market Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research and forecasting on product markets, competitors, and industry trends. Leverage data from multiple sources to proactively identify risk, opportunity, and performance gaps that impact business performance.
• Proactively monitor depletions and scan performance to understand the implications to the annual account plan; identify performance drivers, implications to plan, and make actionable recommendations.
• Monitor competitive set and identify new threats or opportunities; identify key distribution, feature and display voids.
• Syndicated National Selling Stories: Build and deliver best-in-class selling stories for Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits brands and initiatives utilizing fact-based selling and storytelling. Leverage data insights and research to uncover opportunities and utilize multiple resources to build selling materials.
• Data storyteller: Turning data into actionable insights and communicating them through compelling stories.
• Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Stay updated on industry best practices, tools, and technologies. Upskill in data analytics, category management, and market research. Foster culture of innovation and excellence within the team.
• Build Strong Relationships:Ability to develop strong working/collaborative relationships with sales partners.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years as a Category Analyst with experience in CPG
• Location flexible –Central, Mountain or Pacific time zone required
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
• Experience with Costco and/or Whole Foods is highly desirable
• Understanding of Circana/Nielsen syndicated data and Consumer Panel data
• Expert in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook required
• Adept to learning new data platforms such as Cognos and Numerator
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, math and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in data extraction, analysis, and presentation creation/delivery is a must
• Ability to leverage data and insights to tell compelling fact-based selling stories
• Naturally curious and comfortable presenting ideas and concepts; ability to actively participate and contribute to a cross-functional team environment
• Knowledge of Beverage Alcohol Industry a plus
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time
