The Lewiston-Porter Central School District is seeking a compassionate, dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead an 8:1+2 special class designed to support students with significant behavioral, social, and emotional needs. The successful candidate will create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment that fosters academic growth, emotional regulation, and positive social interaction.
Position Overview: The Lewiston-Porter Central School District is seeking a compassionate, dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead an 8:1+2 special class designed to support students with significant behavioral, social, and emotional needs. The successful candidate will create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment that fosters academic growth, emotional regulation, and positive social interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction aligned with each student's IEP goals and grade-level curriculum
- Utilize positive behavioral support to promote self regulation and appropriate school behavior
- Collaborate closely with classroom aides, related service providers, school counselors, and families to ensure consistent support for students
- Use trauma-informed, restorative, and social-emotional learning practices to foster a safe and supportive classroom
- Collect and analyze data on student performance and behavior to guide instructional decisions and monitor progress towards IEP goals
- Maintain accurate and complete student records and reports as required by law and school policy
Qualifications:
- NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities (Students w/Disabilities B-2, All Grades)
- Experience with behavioral support, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed practices
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of special education principles and practices.
