Job Title: Behavior Aide    
Reports to: Principal

Exemption Status/Test: Nonexempt
Pay Grade: Clerica/l PG
Minimum Salary: $18,

 
Provide or supervise personal care and medical care as stated in the IEP (Individualized Education Plan).      Primary Purpose: 

Work with teachers and campus administration to analyze student discipline data and other campus data as

 

designated, diagnose needs and identify research-based strategies to improve student behavior.

 
Qualifications: 

Education/Certification:

 

High school diploma or GED

 

Associate's degree, two years of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal

 

academic assessment required by No Child Left Behind Act.

 

Educational Aide Certification (preferred)

 

College hours towards Education Certification (preferred) 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

Ability to work with children with disabilities

 

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

 

Ability to communicate effectively

 

Experience:

 

Some experience working with children

  Major Responsibilities and Duties: 
  1. Enter and track student data for students placed in the behavior intervention room or caseload assigned. 

  2. Assist in de-escalating students in classrooms or behavior intervention rooms. 

  3. Assist teachers with behaviors or disruptive behavior removals in the classroom. 

  4. Assist behavior intervention teacher with gathering classwork. 

  5. Co-plans or co-teaches social lessons with behavior intervention teacher/s. 

  6. Assist behavior intervention teacher with implementing social skill lessons. 

  7. Provide direct instruction to students in a small group or individual setting. 

  8. Model discipline strategies for teachers when needed. 

  9. Collaborate with teachers, curriculum department and campus administration to develop aligned social lessons and behavior strategies. 

  10. Manage and distribute discipline management resources/tools to teachers and provide training on the use of those resources. 

  11. Observes and gives feedback to teachers to adjust interventions as necessary. 

  12. Assist teachers with writing behavior contracts. 

  13. Assist with the implementation and adjustment of behavior improvement plans. 

  14. Assist with escorting students to and from classes. 

  15. Work with students in the classroom to role model appropriate behaviors. 

  16. Assist with end of the day checkouts and homework checks. 

  17. Oversee the behavior intervention classroom during ARD or RTI meetings.

  18. Complete XLogs data entry for SHARS Medicaid reimbursement and documentation of services provided.
