Job Summary:

Terra Supreme Battery is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Environmental Technician to support the daily operation of the facility's tank farm/wastewater systems and Paste-Clean-Up. 

The Environmental Operations Technician is an entry-level role responsible for supporting daily operations in the tank farm, assisting with basic wastewater handling, performing routine paste clean-up in production areas, and completing simple preventative maintenance checks. This role helps maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment throughout the facility.

Training is provided for all tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily visual checks of tank levels, hoses, pumps, and valves.
  • Perform basic pH checks and document readings (training provided).
  • Help transfer wastewater between tanks under supervision.
  • Monitor decant barrels: apply labels, check dates, and stage properly.
  • Report spills, leaks, unusual noises, or equipment issues immediately.
  • Keep tank farm area clean, swept, and organized.
  • Perform routine clean-up of lead paste, dust, and scrap in designated areas (Paste Room, Accumulator/Mesh Prep, etc.).
  • Safely collect and shovel paste into labeled containers.
  • Support production teams with basic spill clean-up and floor sweeping/mopping.
  • Maintain clean walkways and work areas to prevent tracking lead.
  • Use provided PPE correctly during all clean-up tasks (training provided).
  • Complete simple PM tasks such as:
  • Checking pumps for visible leaks
  • Wiping down equipment
  • Tightening loose clamps/bolts where permitted
  • Cleaning strainers or screens
  • Noting abnormal sounds or operations
  • Assist Maintenance with basic tasks as directed.
  • Document PM checks on provided forms or electronic logs.
  • Follow all PPE requirements (respirator, gloves, shoe covers, Tyvek, etc.).
  • Follow instructions for safe handling of wastewater, paste, and chemicals.
  • Complete all required training (lead awareness, HAZCOM, LOTO awareness, etc.).
  • Immediately report spills, hazards, or unsafe conditions.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • No experience required training provided.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, shovel paste, and perform physical work.
  • Comfortable working around chemicals, lead, and wastewater systems.
  • Willingness to wear PPE including respirator (fit-testing provided).
  • Basic reading/writing skills for logs and labels.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Previous industrial, environmental, or janitorial/clean-up experience.
  • Comfort with basic hand tools.
  • Forklift experience or certification.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time role
  • Overtime based on production needs
  • May require occasional weekend or off-shift support

Work Environment:

  • Industrial manufacturing environment involving tanks, pumps and chemical systems.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and work safely around hazardous materials.
  • Standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. is required.
