Receptionist-Women's Health Center

Job Summary: The Patient Access Specialist's at Women's Health Center's role is to efficiently perform duties related to the front desk area of the medical office which include courteously greeting, checking patients in and out for their appointments, scheduling appointments, electronic filing, obtaining accurate patient billing information and taking payments. Patient Access Specialists may be assigned to any receptions area within the organization and are often asked to float from regularly assigned work areas to provide coverage as needed. The Patient Access Specialist works closely with the entire clinical team to ensure that appointments are scheduled properly and that billing information is accurate. Customer service skills are essential to this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have be able to learn, navigate and accurately document in computer software systems.
- Must have basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Must be able to electronically file records accurately.
- Must understand the basic medical insurance rules and concepts.
- Must have the ability to communicate in a positive manner with patients, doctors and other employees.
- Must have the ability to maintain the confidentiality of records, documents or discussions related to clinic functions.
Credentials and Experience:
Required
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have taken basic business course at the 11th or 12th grade level.
Preferred
- Experience in a health care or medical office setting.
- Experience in a receptionist position and/or experience dealing directly with patients or customers.
