HEAD LIFEGUARD

**The Head Lifeguard position is Seasonal**

(Mid-April through Mid-September with hiring and training beginning as early as December)

Head Lifeguards are expected to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and operation of the waterpark and its attractions, guests, and staff through their constant on-deck presence while providing great customer service. Head Lifeguards assist the management team with programs, events, staff training, and daily operation.

Head Lifeguards are assigned to a certain specialty based on their strengths and previous experience and work closely with the respective manager to assist in oversight of that specialty throughout the season.

Minimum Qualifications

16 years of age or older

Current certifications from StarGuard Elite

  • While certification can be gained through the City of Collinsville, employment cannot be provided without certification. Certification must include the ability to pass all in-water skills tests in depths of at least 9 feet.

At least 1-3 years of lifeguarding experience

Basic knowledge of lifeguarding best practices, swim lessons, aquatic programs, and pool maintenance with ability or ability to learn these practices

Flexible scheduling that accommodates early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays

Ability to work effectively with supervisors, staff, and guests

Ability to act quickly, competently, and effectively during emergencies

Preference

Familiarity with the supervision and operation of aquatics programs, swim lessons, pool maintenance, and lifeguards.

Individuals who are team-oriented with positive, can-do attitudes.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, run, stand, sit and complete a variety of motor skills
Ability to walk and/or stand on concrete for the majority of your shift
Ability to bend to the floor and reach overhead
Ability to lift and carry 30-70 pounds regularly to chest height
Ability to hear and see well

Mental Requirements

Ability to demonstrate exceptional punctuality and attendance
Ability to project a positive attitude, manner, and appearance
Ability to think clearly and respond appropriately in an emergency
Ability to demonstrate mature judgment and ethical behavior
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical equations
Ability to work with limited supervision
Ability to multitask
Ability to use knowledge; critical thinking skills; judgment and problem-solving skills to handle situations
Ability to resolve conflict fairly, safely, and in a timely manner

Environmental Conditions

Ability to work staggered shift assignments as necessary including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to work in hot, cold, wet and/or other unpleasant outdoor conditions
Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced environment

Pay Rate

This position is $16.50 per hour.
