Position Title: Buildings/Construction Crew
Pay Range: $19.00 to $22.00 per hour (Based on experience)
Position Purpose:
Assists with a variety of skilled general maintenance-related activities, and may perform janitorial and custodial duties as needed. This is a temporary, seasonal position with full time hours, not to exceed 122 days.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 7 am to 3:30 pm; Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Essential Functions:
Construction
- Assist with skilled general maintenance including roof repairs, framing work, laying concrete, digging trenches, and backfilling holes.
- Assist with gate repairs, cutting lumber, and transporting supplies and materials using heavy machinery,
- Provide assistance to plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and painters with projects and repairs when assigned.
- Participate in janitorial and custodial duties including cleaning buildings and facilities, cleaning and restocking restrooms, emptying trash, and cleaning guest tables, and eating areas.
- Assist with skilled general maintenance including the repair of building fixtures and equipment such as windows, doors, and HVAC systems.
- Assist with appliance installation, drywall repair/installation, and inspecting buildings for necessary repairs.
- Provide assistance to plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and painters with projects and repairs when assigned.
- Participate in janitorial and custodial duties including cleaning buildings and facilities, cleaning and restocking restrooms, emptying trash, and cleaning guest tables, and eating areas.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- General, skilled maintenance and repair and/or landscape experience.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Good customer service skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
- Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair (mid July – mid August).
Preferences:
- Valid California driver's license to operate a utility cart and other equipment on fairgrounds.
- Experience in safely operating heavy equipment such as forklift, manlift, scissor lift, Bobcat, and/or trash compactor/baler.
- Janitorial or custodial experience.
- Familiarity with the layout and facilities of the OC Fair & Event Center.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and must constantly use hands and fingers to operate, and handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using proper bending. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to walk, stand, and/or do physical work for extended periods of time in all weather conditions, indoors and outdoors, for at least 8 hours per day (Standard rest periods/meal periods will be provided).
Work Environment:
Will work in a fast-paced, indoor and outdoor environment, with frequent interruptions, in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud, however louder noise levels may be experienced during outdoor events, in larger event buildings, and when using maintenance equipment.
