Company Overview
Makson Inc specializes in commercial construction, with a focus on fire protection, plumbing, and electrical solutions and we are seeking to hire a Purchasing Agent with prior experience in the Fire Protection industry.
Summary
A fire protection purchasing agent is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing materials, equipment, and services for fire protection projects. Key duties include creating purchase orders, negotiating with vendors, tracking deliveries, managing inventory, and collaborating with sales, operations, and warehouse teams to ensure project timelines and budgets are met. A strong understanding of fire protection products, excellent organizational skills, and vendor management experience are crucial for this role.
Responsibilities
- Procurement: Source and purchase fire sprinkler and fire alarm parts, materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Vendor Management: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, and resolve issues with vendors.
- Order Processing: Create and manage purchase orders, track shipments, and ensure timely delivery to job sites or the warehouse.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, assist with physical counts, and reconcile discrepancies.
- Collaboration: Work with internal teams, such as sales, project managers, and warehouse staff, to understand project needs and timelines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of purchases, vendor information, and inventory in the company's systems.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and seek out cost-effective purchasing options and best practices.
Skills and qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or a similar role is required, along with knowledge of the fire protection industry.
- Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills are essential for securing the best prices and terms with vendors.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for interacting with vendors and internal teams.
- Organization: Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management are critical for managing multiple orders and projects.
- Problem-solving: The ability to resolve issues related to order discrepancies, quality, and delivery is a must.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with purchasing software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office is required
Pay: $50, $60,000.00 per year
