Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly experienced and motivated professional to lead our New England Transit Market Sector and serve as the Client Account Manager (CAM) for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). This senior-level position,
VP New England Transit Market Sector Leader
will be based out of our Boston or Chelmsford office and will report directly to the Regional Business Line Leader. This
VP New England Transit Market Sector Leader
also will play a critical role in driving business growth, fostering client relationships, and overseeing all transit-related activities in New England.

The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of the transit industry, particularly in New England, and a proven track record of working with key clients such as the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT). This individual will be responsible for growing the transit business, managing project performance, and building strong teams to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Leadership:

  • Lead and oversee all transit-related activities in New England, ensuring alignment with AECOM's strategic goals.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the MBTA, cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Develop marketing strategies and plans, anticipate opportunities, and identify market trends to position AECOM as a leader in the transit sector.
  • Drive business growth within the New England transit market, identifying opportunities for expansion and innovation.

  • Client Account Management:

  • Act as the Client Account Manager (CAM) for the MBTA, ensuring client satisfaction and successful project delivery.

  • Collaborate closely with clients and partners to develop effective teaming strategies and deliver value-driven solutions.

  • Business Development:

  • Lead business development efforts, including proposal writing, oral presentations, and strategic planning to secure new projects.

  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve long-term business goals while balancing short-term priorities.
  • Anticipate market opportunities and trends to stay ahead of industry demands.

  • Team Leadership and Management:

  • Recruit, hire, and manage a high-performing transit team to support business growth and project delivery.

  • Oversee project performance, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule adherence.
  • Develop and execute succession planning to ensure sustainable growth and continuity within the transit business.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS plus 12+ years of demonstrated equivalency of experience, including 4 years of leadership
  • 10 years of professional experience in the transit industry, with demonstrated expertise in working with the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) or other similar transit agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years of professional experience in the transit industry, with demonstrated expertise in working with the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) or other similar transit agencies
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or equivalent certification.
  • Proven experience in proposal writing and delivering compelling oral presentations for business development purposes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills, with the ability to balance long-term goal achievement with short-term objectives.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to identify and act on risks and opportunities aligned with business goals.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage teams and projects within a matrixed organizational structure.
