Position Overview

The Tax Manager at Insight Advisors PLLC plays a leadership role in overseeing client tax engagements, managing staff development, and ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of tax services. This position combines deep technical tax expertise with team leadership, client relationship management, and proactive advisory skills.

You'll work directly with clients in energy, construction, real estate as well as other entrepreneur-led small businesses — guiding them toward smarter financial and tax outcomes.

Core ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance & Review

· Manage and review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust, and estate tax returns.

· Oversee tax staff and associates in preparing returns and ensure technical accuracy and compliance.

· Perform quality control and second-level reviews before partner sign-off.

· Monitor due dates and filing deadlines to ensure timely completion.

· Research and resolve complex tax issues, ensuring clients receive accurate and practical guidance.

Client Advisory & Planning

· Lead proactive tax planning for business owners, investors, and high-net-worth individuals.

· Provide year-round strategic advice on entity structure, compensation, and tax efficiency.

· Identify areas for additional advisory services and communicate value clearly to clients.

Leadership & Team Development

· Supervise, train, and mentor tax associates and preparers.

· Review and approve staff work, providing actionable feedback to promote technical growth.

· Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training new tax staff.

· Model firm values and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Workflow & Technology Management

· Utilize Canopy for engagement tracking, task management, and client document requests.

· Use CCH Axcess (or equivalent) for tax return preparation and e-filing.

· Collaborate with partners to enhance efficiency and standardize tax processes across the firm.

· Ensure all tax-related workflows meet firm deadlines and maintain documentation quality.

Qualifications

· CPA or EA license preferred

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting

· Minimum 5+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

· Strong technical knowledge of individual, business, and fiduciary taxation.

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

· Experience with CCH Axcess and Canopy preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95, $130,000.00 per year
