The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care, Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking applicants for a full-time clinical professor, associate professor or assistant professor on the Clinician Teacher (CT) track to join our faculty. This physician will have the ability to develop a practice as a general hematologist/oncologist and maintain a specialty area of interest, preferably breast oncology, within our community clinics.
As Clinician Track faculty, the principal duty is direct patient care. This includes providing inpatient and outpatient clinic attending services at UW Hospitals and Clinics locations in Madison and at additional sites within the region. Responsibilities will also include providing clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as clinical research endeavors.
This position is full or part time, 80%-100%
This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.
The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law every four years.
Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
Provide inpatient and outpatient clinic attending services at UW Health locations in Madison and at additional sites in the region. Responsibilities will also include providing clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as clinical research endeavors. Responsibilities of the Clinician Teacher track candidate will include:
- 90-100% direct patient care at UW Health approved locations, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service attending.
- 5-10% academic time for educational and other scholarly activities, which includes pro-actively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants.

The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care at UW-Madison includes more than 60 faculty, over 40 Advanced Practice Providers, and 19 Fellows. The division's faculty leads cutting-edge basic, translational and clinical research programs. This research encompasses cancer biology, cancer prevention, screening and treatment, as well as survivorship and palliative care for patients impacted by solid tumors, benign and malignant hematologic conditions and those requiring stem cell transplant or cellular therapies.
Our community-based physicians, nurse practitioners and health care specialists provide exceptional patient-centered care with access to all University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) clinical trials, multi-disciplinary oncology programs including medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, precision medicine, medical imaging, cancer immunology & immunotherapy and early drug development. Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 22 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office on the main campus. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our UWCCC clinical sites. We are a member of the NCCN, ECOG- ACRIN,Alliance, BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON) and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology (WAHO).
The candidate will have also access to many shared resources and opportunities to collaborate with basic, translational and clinical researchers at the NCI-designated UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), the VA Hospital and throughout the UW-Madison campus. Administrative duties including e-Consults, committees and community service may be added as appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate.
The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology & Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI-designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is active in all phases of cancer therapy development and evaluation. Compensation:Negotiable, 12 months.
Required Qualifications:- Board certification or board eligibility in Hematology/Medical Oncology or Medical Oncology from an accredited fellowship training program is required by the appointment start date.
American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)Certification required.
Candidate is required to have a Wisconsin medical license by the appointment start date.
Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.
Clinical and academic interests in breast medical oncology preferred.
For an appointment as Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor or Professor on the Clinician Teacher track.
MD, DO, or equivalent is required
