Position Summary:

The Dispatcher/Patient Scheduler is responsible for efficiently coordinating and assigning calls to field crews while continuously monitoring the status and location of all on-duty units. This role requires acting in accordance with local, state, and national regulations as well as Benchmark Medical Transportation's Standards of Practice.

The Dispatcher serves as the first point of contact for patients, family members, coworkers, facility staff, other healthcare professionals, and the general public. The ideal candidate will interact in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner that reflects the mission and values of Benchmark Medical Transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, prioritize, and assign transport requests to available crews in a timely manner.
  • Accurately collect and enter detailed call information into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
  • Monitor unit locations and status to ensure efficient deployment and response times.
  • Communicate effectively with field staff, facilities, and other stakeholders to coordinate patient transports.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the service area to optimize routing and dispatch efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Strong multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems or dispatching software preferred.
  • Prior dispatch or scheduling experience in medical transportation or a related field is a plus.
  • Ability to represent Benchmark Medical Transportation's mission and values in all interactions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
