First Presbyterian Church Child Development Center is a growing and vibrant CHRISTIAN Child Care Center in downtown Raleigh currently seeking passionate and experienced applicants to join our team

We are constantly working to improve ourselves and are currently working on quality of care, developmentally appropriate practice, respect for children and families, and professionalism at work with colleagues. MOST importantly, we are looking for staff who want to guide children's spiritual and emotional development and are passionate about talking with children about God's love for them

We are currently reviewing applications for a part-time Kitchen Manager. Depending on the candidate chosen for this position, this position has the potential of being over 30 hours with some classroom floating as needed.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Help establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing environment.
  • Receive all catered meals from the contract food service deliverer.
  • Check all food appropriately at arrival each morning for correct temperatures, as required by health department regulations, logging the temperatures immediately, and contacting administration if needed.
  • Communicate with administration any inaccuracies with food allergy information, inadequate amounts of food, expired food, and/or unacceptable temperatures of food at arrival.
  • Prepare and deliver all food and beverage items served at the CDC (breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack).
  • Communicate kitchen needs not provided by food service provider (e.g., milk, kitchen supplies, birthday cupcakes) with administration in a timely fashion so it can be ordered. Receive and store these items in the CDC kitchenette and/or church kitchen.
  • Clean, sanitize, and ensure overall appearance of the CDC kitchenette and church kitchen are optimal at all times.
  • Complete all parts of the Daily and Weekly Cleaning and Monitoring Checklists and submit to administration.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • NC Food Handler's training certificate
  • Current DCDEE cleared background check and fingerprinting
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Demonstrate proof of meeting health regulation requirements ( e.g., Staff Medical Report, TB test)
  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills in order to work with Director, Assistant Director, Program Coordinator, Mentor Teacher, Teachers, children, parents, and prospective families with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education to enhance professional growth
  • The ability to comply in all respects with all applicable laws and regulations relating to childcare.
  • up to date with state childcare qualifications and willing to step in ratio on an as needed basis.
  • the ability to interact closely with children at their level
  • the ability to keep children within sight and sound supervision at all times
  • the ability to change children's diapers and/or assist in toileting (where necessary)
  • the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children and parents
  • the ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
