As our team grows, we are seeking compassionate and experienced Registered Peer Recovery Specialists to provide authentic support and mentorship to our residents.

Position Overview:

The Registered Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) will use their lived experience and professional training to support individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. This role focuses on mentoring, advocacy, and promoting recovery-oriented values within a structured housing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer peer-based support and mentorship to individuals in early and ongoing recovery
  • Assist clients with developing individualized recovery plans and navigating available resources
  • Facilitate recovery meetings, workshops, and group activities
  • Model healthy coping skills, boundaries, and recovery behaviors
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure clients receive comprehensive, coordinated care
  • Document interactions and progress in accordance with program policies and confidentiality guidelines
  • Provide crisis support and de-escalation as needed
  • Serve as a liaison between residents and external services when appropriate
  • Maintain ethical boundaries and adhere to the Virginia Board of Counseling standards for Peer Recovery Specialists

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) through the Virginia Board of Counseling
  • Personal lived experience in recovery with a minimum of 1 year sustained recovery
  • Strong communication, empathy, and active listening skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with recovery housing, 12-step programs, and/or other recovery models
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
  • Must pass background and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist) or pursuing certification
  • Experience working in recovery housing, treatment centers, or community-based recovery programs
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
