Human Resources Generalist

SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with other members of the HR team supporting the overall mission of the organization. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, and employment law compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
- Performs internal customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Processes payroll.
- Supports conflict resolution and handles employee complaints.
- Promotes a positive workplace culture and employee engagement.
- Administers employee benefits programs (health, retirement, workers comp, etc.)
- Coordinates open enrollment and benefits education.
- Audits benefit invoices.
- Supports and coordinates wellness initiatives.
- Completes onboarding process for new hires.
- Maintains accurate employee records (e.g. attendance, leave, etc.).
- Assists with processing terminations.
- Completes unemployment claims.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Ensures compliance with company policies.
- Assists in developing, updating, and communicating HR policies and procedures.
- Maintains Labor Law Postings and annual reporting/ notifications.
- Completes Workers Compensation injury reporting, audit, and OSHA log maintenance.
- Maintains all employee related record keeping and file maintenance.
- Assists in preparation of special events such as Town Hall, Holiday Celebration, and other office or company gatherings.
- Assists with providing compliance in all areas of human resources.
- Assists with additional projects, as assigned.
- Reports to personnel as described in the company's organizational structure.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, supervisors, vendors, customers, and public. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to take charge of unforeseen situations, problems and changes within the daily schedule.
COMPUTER SKILLS
High Level of Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of web analytics.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Professional, very upbeat, and positive attitude.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform the job successfully, one must have proficient multi-tasking, time management and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational, prioritization, problem solving, multitasking, and decision-making skills are needed. Must be able to work with a variety of personalities and maintain a high level of confidentiality. A basic understanding of HR regulations and federal HR laws is needed. Maintaining a positive attitude and demonstrating the utmost in professionalism is always required.
PREFERRED MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
Three years of human resource experience (manufacturing industry experience preferred).
