Bridge Inspection Quality Assurance Engineer II, III, or IV- Bridge Division

Position Information

TxDOT's Bridge Division is looking for a Bridge Inspection Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer based in Austin, TX. A QA Engineer will work in a team to perform and maintain statewide Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) procedures of the Bridge Inspection Program (BIP) with the goal of ensuring a high degree of accuracy and consistency in the operation and functions of the BIP. This position is a great opportunity to help grow and develop the technical and programmatic aspects of statewide bridge inspection.

Accuracy and consistency of the data is important since the bridge inspection process is the foundation of the entire bridge management operation and bridge management systems. Information obtained during the inspection is used for determining needed maintenance and repairs, for prioritizing rehabilitations and replacements, for allocating resources, and for evaluating and improving design for new bridges. The accuracy and consistency of the inspection and documentation is vital because it not only impacts programming and funding appropriations, it also affects public safety.

The QA Team will report directly to the Program Manager at the Bridge Division and will support and work in conjunction with other Division, District, and Bridge Inspection Consulting Firm personnel involved with the TxDOT BIP.

This position is based at our state-of-the-art headquarters in South Austin. Check out our facility and amenities at the Stassney Campus Preview.

Texas' inventory of roughly 57,000 bridges is more than twice that of any other state and approximately the same as the combined inventories of 21 US territories and other states. For more information on Texas bridges, visit our page on the Texas Bridge Program.
