Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated USDA Animal Transport professional to ensure the safe and humane movement of animals across various locations. This role involves coordinating transportation logistics, maintaining compliance with federal regulations, and ensuring animal welfare throughout the journey. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to animal care standards.
Duties
- Safely transport animals in accordance with USDA regulations and company policies.
- Prepare transport vehicles to meet safety and hygiene standards before each trip.
- Monitor animals during transit to ensure their well-being, providing necessary care or adjustments as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of animal movement, health status, and transportation logs.
- Coordinate with farm managers, veterinarians, and logistics teams to schedule and execute transportation plans.
- Conduct routine inspections of transport vehicles to ensure cleanliness and operational safety.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations related to animal transportation and handling.
- Assist in loading and unloading animals using proper handling techniques to minimize stress or injury.
Requirements
- Prior experience in animal handling or transportation is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Ability to operate transport vehicles safely over long distances and varied terrains.
- Strong understanding of USDA regulations related to animal welfare during transit.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for recordkeeping and compliance documentation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed for transportation schedules.
- Physical ability to lift and move animals or equipment as necessary; comfortable working in different weather conditions.
