The Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce is seeking an energetic and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization into its next phase of growth. This is an exciting opportunity for a mission-driven leader who wants to make a measurable impact on the economic vitality of one of California's most historic and community-centered cities.

In this role, you will work closely with a dynamic and engaged Board of Directors, collaborate with local business owners and civic partners, and help shape the programs, policies, and initiatives that support a thriving business community in Santa Paula.

Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish are strongly preferred, as this skill strengthens our ability to serve the diverse businesses and residents of our community.

Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive and is responsible for the leadership, management, and daily operations of the Chamber. This position oversees strategy, financials, membership engagement, marketing, advocacy, community partnerships, and staff development. The Executive Director is the public face of the Chamber and plays a central role in strengthening Santa Paula's business climate.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Chamber's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board.
  • Set annual goals and priorities that advance economic vitality and business growth
  • Inspire a culture of collaboration, innovation, professionalism, and accountability among staff, volunteers, and members.

Financial and Organizational Management

  • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring long-term sustainability.
  • Oversee revenue generation, expense management, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Identify new funding streams including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.

Membership Growth and Business Engagement

  • Design and lead member recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies.
  • Serve as the main spokesperson for the Chamber at public events and community meetings.
  • Build trusted relationships with business owners, elected officials, and community partners.

Marketing and Communications

  • Oversee digital communications, including the Chamber website, newsletters, and social media.
  • Develop marketing and branding campaigns that promote Santa Paula businesses and Chamber programs.
  • Lead public relations activities including media outreach and press releases.

Advocacy and Public Policy

  • Track local, state, and federal issues that affect the business community.
  • Represent Chamber members in conversations with policymakers and advocate for a strong business environment.
  • Collaborate with government agencies and regional partners on economic development initiatives.

Programs and Events

  • Develop and oversee programs, networking opportunities, and educational workshops that deliver value to members.
  • Lead planning and execution of signature community events and business celebrations.
  • Ensure high-quality delivery, strong attendance, and positive member outcomes.

Staff Leadership and Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, manage, and support Chamber staff and volunteers.
  • Provide clear expectations, coaching, and professional development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace.

Board Relations

  • Maintain transparent and consistent communication with the Board of Directors.
  • Provide regular updates on financials, programs, membership, and strategic progress.
  • Implement Board direction and help refine long-term strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit, chamber, or economic development setting
  • Demonstrated success in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational development
  • Strong understanding of local government, public policy, and business advocacy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with office technology, CRM systems, and social media platforms
