Data Center Systems Engineer

The company is headquartered in Peachtree Corners, GA, with regional teams across the US and internationally.

Job Summary:

The Data Center Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining Alogent's hosted environments. This position is responsible for maintenance planning, service prioritization, managing day-to-day operations, and recommending/implementing changes in accordance with industry standards, methodologies, and processes. This position will be integral in driving datacenter operations solutions in collaboration with Alogent's infrastructure, application engineering, software development, and customer support teams.

The qualified candidate will have extensive experience in Information Technology, as well as strong communication and project management skills. This position requires 8+ years of minimum hands-on technical experience in an Application, Systems or Network Engineering role or similar experience and will report directly to the Director of Data Center Operations.

This position can be filled by candidates throughout the United States, however, candidates local to our Peachtree Corners, GA headquarters will be considered hybrid with 2-3 day in office requirement.

Responsibilities:

• Designs and maintains real-time data center monitoring, dashboard reporting, vendor interface, and change control processes.
• Ensures completion of daily tasks and initiatives
• Proactively identifies issues, creates incidents, creates KB articles, escalates incidents and actively participates in the problem resolution process
• Coordinates and supports datacenter preventative maintenance activities, including problem management, backup policies, and patch management
• Coordinates the configuration and maintenance of all datacenter environments with internal teams and external vendors. Works closely with customers and other systems professionals in order to identify and correct operational issues
• Maintains the disaster recovery plan for the datacenter operations team
• Develops and implements operations and escalation procedures
• Establishes and maintains operational standards, processes, intake, and auditing programs in support of datacenter operations
• Actively seeks new information about changing products, markets, procedures, techniques, industry trends, developments, and best practices
• Maintains a high level of urgency and excellent customer response time
• Mentors team within the Data Center department
• Works closely with the Director of Data Center operations to create and implement processes and procedures

Requirements:

• 8+ years of technical experience in a Data Center, Systems Administration, or similar role
• Relevant industry certifications preferred (CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, MCSE, VCP)
• Experience in network design, planning, and implementing scalable, highly available, mission-critical network infrastructure
• Experience in routing and switching with knowledge of Enterprise WAN and Data Center technologies
• Experience supporting cloud services (Microsoft Azure/Amazon Web Services/Google Cloud)
• Experience creating, managing and testing BCP/security measures (e.g. IAM/authentication and disaster recovery)
• Experience deploying and supporting VMware vSphere / VMware Cloud Foundation
• Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2016 – 2025
• Experience supporting production Linux server deployments
• Experience supporting containerized applications a plus (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Experience performing SQL database administration (MSSQL preferred)
• Experience supporting Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DFS, IIS)
• Experience with firewall policy deployments (Fortinet/Palo Alto Networks preferred)
• Ability to stay up to date on evolving technology
• Exceptional skills in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and solving complex technical problems and providing detailed technical analysis
• Four-year degree in Information Technology or other technical field preferred

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to work weekends, nights and on-call shifts
• Ability to travel if required
