Role: Electrical Engineer III – DER Systems & Testing

Location: 265 N. East End Ave., Pomona, CA 91767, USA (Hybrid)

Mode: Contract – W2

Pay Rate: $38/hr -$46/hr. on W2

Hybrid Schedule:
In office two days a week (Wednesday & Thursday)

Position Summary

The
Engineer
will provide technical expertise and leadership within the DER Engineering Development & Testing unit. This role focuses on resolving complex technical issues, conducting engineering studies, and ensuring that facility designs and operations meet safety, reliability, and performance standards. The candidate will coordinate technical work, implement innovative solutions, and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolve technical issues efficiently and cost-effectively using available resources.
  • Supervise, lead, and coordinate employees in executing new technical strategies, equipment implementation, and standard development.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure safety and reliability in engineering projects.
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise for analyzing and resolving high-impact, complex, or cross-functional problems.
  • Maintain control over the facility design basis and associated documentation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct high-impact engineering studies and projects with full technical responsibility.

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Proficiency in using electrical diagnostic equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Basic networking knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience in control panel layout, component mounting (DIN rails, terminal blocks, relays).
  • Skilled in wire stripping, crimping, and neat routing within enclosures.
  • Safe and effective use of hand and power tools.
  • Experience with instrumentation and data logging equipment.
  • Familiarity with automation software (e.g.,
    LabVIEW
    ,
    Ovation
    ).
  • Bachelor's degree in a
    STEM field
    (required).

Desired Skills & Attributes

  • Experience with
    energy storage systems
    ,
    generators
    , or
    microgrids
    is a plus.
  • California Professional Electrical Engineer (PE)
    license preferred but not required.
