Part-Time Building Maintenance Technician

The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for the assigned areas of the workplace, including office and shop facilities. You will perform light maintenance and work with hand tools for light repairs around the property and in the industrial shop. You will also keep a clean and orderly work environment to protect the safety and health of employees. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on the daily needs of the business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use a variety of hand tools to perform light maintenance in the office and manufacturing facility (hang wall items, fix pipe leaks, toilet clogs, change outdoor locks and handles, etc.).
- Keep grounds maintained, use shovel and snow blower to remove snow and salt walkways during the winter months, check for valid parking passes.
- Water the lawn areas and create seasonal planters in the spring/summer.
- Follow procedures for storage (including seasonal items) and dispose of trash.
- Transport, make deliveries and pick up a variety of items needed for meetings and customer events, around the Chicago area.
- Operate and drive a forklift in the shop area to assist with moving parts in the shop.
- Prepare and set up monthly celebrations in advance with tables and chairs, clean up after conferences, return items to storage, as needed.
- Properly utilize and maintain floor cleaning machine in the shop area. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Clean specific common areas including shop area restrooms, locker room, kitchen, offices, parking lot, sweep the industrial floor, remove trash.
- Perform all other janitorial duties according to property requirements.
- Basic shipping and receiving duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous maintenance and custodial experience in an industrial workshop setting.
- Experience working with hand tools, hammers and drills, large buffer machine
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to fulfill the physical demands of the essential functions of the job. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to follow basic safety procedures.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Experienced forklift driver is desired.
- Willingness to be a team player and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Perform all other duties according to property requirements.
