Job Summary

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineering will drive project planning, execution, and implementation to support production process improvement and product launch at Premier Marine. Production improvements include process development & documentation, tool and fixture development, line balancing, material flow delivery, part presentation, workstation layout, 5S, elimination of errors, problem solving, and automation implementation. Product launch responsibilities include process definition, safety assessment, PFMEA, process capability and validation, fixture/tool ideation, design, and implementation, prototype build, and production maturation. Significant collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production, materials, and facilities, and training to resolve productivity, quality, and flow issues.

Management Responsibilities

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is not a supervisory role.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead manufacturing new product launch including executing design and process validation activities such as supporting fabrication of prototype parts, assembly of prototype boats, and PFEP.
  • Conduct direct labor studies and drive manufacturing process improvement activities through analysis and benchmarking to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Identify, define, and design process improvement tools such as weld and assembly fixtures.
  • Lead autonomous manufacturing implementation projects and other process improvement technologies.
  • Assists in preparation of departmental budget, including material, manpower, equipment, and outside procurement costs, and operates within approved parameters.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and maintains manufacturing methods and standards. Provides solutions to problems adversely affecting operator safety, quality, productivity, and/or cost.
  • Create and update standard work documentation for processes.
  • Deploy root cause problem-solving and corrective actions.
  • Develop detailed, complete, and accurate capital equipment studies and make appropriate recommendations for capital expenditures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism with all Premier Marine employees and visitors.
  • Provide situational leadership in support of Premier Marine culture and values.
  • Communicate effectively through all department levels to provide a clear and consistent message in a changing environment.
  • Support Tier Continuous Improvement Boards to help facility achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvement goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency with PC's (MS Office) and CAD software.
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
  • 7+ years manufacturing experience required.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge is required, Six Sigma certification is strongly preferred.
