At BAE Systems Space & Mission System's Westminster Colorado location, we develop and manufacture state of the art RF & EO/IR sensor technologies that are integrated onto tactical missile and aircraft platforms. We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Program Manager II to join our Active EO Portfolio consisting of Opto-Electrical Modules builds. Leading Product Launch and the Manufacturing function while collaborating with the cross-functional program team – this role will require collaborative and in-person work to truly lead the transition to rate manufacturing. Supporting follow-on production awards, along with Development content leveraging our historical baseline – this role will have a unique opportunity to get exposure across several platforms and customers.

The OPM role is organized within the Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit which plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

The Operations Program Manager is responsible for coordinating all Manufacturing activities on a program. This includes flowing program requirements down from the product line and program manager to all of the Operations functions. The Ops functions primarily include Manufacturing, Operations, Facilities, and Supply Chain relationships. In addition to supporting program execution, OPM's are required to support non-recurring engineering program phases, including driving early involvement in development and transition to production programs of the various Ops functions. It will also include involvement in proposal activities for both material and Operations labor estimates. Flowing requirements from the program manager and customer to the Operations function – this role will heavily engage with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Engineering ensuring that we can build and deliver product that meets internal/customer requirements while performing to schedule and cost expectations.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the Product Line from LRIP to sustainable full rate production.
  • Work with production team on any capability transitions (Development/Sustainment).
  • Project management of development, production, sustainment programs. Role may support multiple programs/customers, w/potential for support in our EO/IR area.
  • Cost Account Manager responsible for all Operations estimates. Will manage performance against the baseline program plan by monitoring quality, schedule, cost and technical performance. While monitoring performance, also accurately forecast both labor and material to meet financial commitments.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet contractual requirements (specifications, cost, schedule, etc.).
  • Promotes a strong sense of teamwork among personnel supporting various phases of the program efforts. Willing and capable of creating partnerships with cross-functional leaders to ensure successful execution of program activities.
  • Develop, Execute and Monitor plans that support the Business Operating Plan. Ownership and management of Manufacturing plans inclusive of manufacturing capabilities, staffing, and capital/capacity.
  • Ensure Manufacturing execution is aligned with Program and Customer requirements, in addition to working within the internal processes of the organization.
  • Work with Factory supports to resolve issues that require Supplier, Program, or Customer action. Ability to act as the liaison to bridge the communications between these parties.
  • Be the Operations Leader for Program requirements. Support on-site customer visits, factory tours, and other meetings as required.
  • Support the Quality function with factory compliance requirements and activities. Support the Quality team with internal and customer driven audits and validations.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and schedule risks to program execution, actively contribute to the Program Risk and Opportunity Board.
  • Instill Zero-Defect Culture in the Team (Root Cause Corrective Action, Corrective Action Review Board, Metric Analysis, Kaizen Events, Projects for Green and Black Belts).
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS/BA in related field plus 6 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Must have a strong manufacturing background and experience in optics manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting product development and NPI (New Product Introduction) into stable production environments.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing lean manufacturing, yield management and resolution of a complex product base, and supply chain initiatives.
  • Ability to lead in a cross-functional team environment, with a customer-focused approach, and an aptitude for continuous improvement in serving internal and external customers.
  • Strong diplomatic, communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage and report status of projects within a project management discipline.
  • Ability to provide strategic contributions while successfully executing on tactical objectives.
LI-LO1

A DoD Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
