About Cala Systems, Inc.
Cala designs and builds intelligent heat pump water heaters that redefine the water heating industry. Combining advanced sensors, hardware, and predictive controls, Cala's system learns each home's unique hot water needs to improve hot water comfort, maximize savings, minimize carbon emissions, and provide first-of-a-kind features such as integrating with home solar and battery systems.
The Role, At-a-Glance
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Wilmington, MA. The Lean Manufacturing Technician will focus on identifying and eliminating waste in manufacturing processes to enhance quality, efficiency and productivity. The role involves analyzing workflows, implementing continuous improvement strategies, building systems and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. This role will also support process documentation, provide training, and assist with quality improvement initiatives.
What Will I Do?
- Implement Lean Tools: Apply 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kanban, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and Standard Work.
- Workstation Optimization: Assemble, organize, and improve workstations, including designing layouts, procuring tools, and creating visual management systems.
- Process Improvement: Lead or support Kaizen events, conduct time studies, perform root cause analysis, and drive waste reduction.
- Training & Coaching: Educate and coach operators and leaders on Lean philosophy, standards, and best practices.
- Documentation: Create and update standard work instructions, process documentation, and track metrics.
- Collaboration: Partner with production, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering to achieve goals.
- Assembly: Hands on assembly of Water Heaters and Heat Pumps.
What Qualifications Do I Need?
- Hands-on, mechanically inclined, with problem-solving skills and an understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, often lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication, coaching, and facilitation skills.
- Experience with process mapping, data analysis, and project coordination.
- Attention to detail ensuring accuracy in all tasks and documentation.
