Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Heavy Machine Operator to work on a team of other operators and carry out the goals of the company. We are looking for a person to work around 50 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to work most Saturdays. RAMM Metals sells a special scrap metal to steel mills in the area. The ideal candidate would be reliable, flexible, and have experience operating loaders, skid steers and cranes. A candidate with a background in steel mill services or scrap metal is a plus. The site supervisor will provide all necessary training.

Responsibilities

  • Operate different machinery to help attain the daily goals of the company
  • Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure it's in good working order
  • Tracking scheduled maintenance of equipment and notifying their Supervisor if maintenance is past due
  • Cleaning equipment after use
  • Completing minor repair work as needed

Qualifications/Experience

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the procedures used to control heavy equipment
  • Coordination to use all the controls on pieces of equipment
  • Possessing enough strength to operate the controls on heavy equipment
  • Ability to remain stationary in the seat or operating area of the equipment for prolonged periods
  • Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with equipment
  • Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the site
  • Basic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other paperwork
  • Good noncommercial driver's license history to indicate a habit of safe driving
  • Previous experience in steel mill or mill services role is a plus.
