Scientific Research Project Manager – VICTR

This is a full-time/exempt term position lasting six months to one year.

JOB SUMMARY

In your pivotal role as a Scientific Research Project Manager, you will manage large multi-disciplinary projects under occasional guidance. Communicate with stakeholders across funding organizations and within the department to maximize information sharing around progress, needs, interdependencies and/or accomplishments. Coordinate activities of best practice maintenance, project team, project development and timeline management, special projects, quality control of deliverables and standardization of processes toward more effective and efficient operations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, develops, leads and executes projects in order to meet established goals and objectives at the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Utilizes scientific knowledge and quantitative and qualitative research skills to perform a variety of research- and operations-related activities, data management, analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, report preparation and management of project budgets and schedules for proposals and projects.
  • Identifies appropriate resources needed and coordinates the curation of research data.
  • Utilizes knowledge of large biomedical datasets to inform project planning, data curation activities, and/or research support.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

PROJECT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (INTERMEDIATE)

  • Contributes scientifically to the development of project concepts through data interpretation and evidence synthesis.
  • Contributes to drafts and finalizes study documents, such as protocols, analysis plans, standard operating procedures, and data management plans.
  • Ensures that all regulatory components of a project are identified, submitted, and approved.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT (INTERMEDIATE)

  • Coordinates and leads meetings, creates agendas and meeting materials, and tracks action items and assignments through the lifecycle of a project. Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Creates and implements a project plan, with a timeline and milestones. Understands risk-management and contingency planning to minimize the impact of potential negative events.
  • Provides scientific and operational guidance for project teams within an appropriate timeframe. Able to prioritize tasks across multiple projects to maintain steady progress.
  • Serves as central point of contact for the study team, external partners, Internal Review Board, regulatory authorities, and department leadership

DATA ANALYSIS (INTERMEDIATE)

  • Collaborates on the development of experimental procedures, data collection methods, outcome measures, and statistical analysis plans.
  • Designs, tests, and maintains data collection tools. Oversees monitoring of data quality, resolution of data issues and tracking of data quality metrics.

  • Works with statisticians and investigators to oversee analyses; interprets data and communicates results.

LEADERSHIP (INTERMEDIATE)

  • Effectively organizes and leads diverse study teams throughout the project lifecycle using effective communication, goal setting, and task tracking.
  • Contributes to training study teams, delegates tasks, and provides feedback in a clear and consistent manner.
  • Strong collaborative skills and team-oriented approach with internal and external cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates accountability, flexibility, and the ability to compromise to support a positive team environment and foster productivity.
  • May contribute to intellectual property development and patent prosecution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • 2 years of relevant experience (Required)
  • Master's Degree or PhD in appropriate scientific discipline preferred

This is a term position. A term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year.
